Are you considering moving to Bentonville, AR? If so, this article is for you. We will discuss the many benefits of purchasing a home in this beautiful city. You will learn about the great local amenities, as well as the breathtaking views that can be found here.
Beautiful City
Bentonville is located in the beautiful Arkansas Delta. The Mississippi River flows alongside the city, adding to its beauty. If you are a nature enthusiast, you can take a walk along the river and be surrounded by lush vegetation.
Not only is it a picturesque location, but it also has a lot going for it in terms of its culture and history. The city was named after a U.S. Congressman from Kentucky, whose efforts resulted in the creation of the Arkansas Model Railroad Development Association. The association’s mission is to promote the development and use of railroads in Arkansas. It is not known for certain what motivated the congressman to take on the cause of establishing railroads in the state, but it likely had something to do with the abundance of beautiful landscapes found here.
The city itself began its development as a river town, as the Mississippi River flows nearby. In fact, the community has been around since the mid-19th century. During this time, it was a popular place for riverboat gambling and prostitution. In more recent years, however, the city has undergone a major renaissance. This has been due, in large part, to the efforts of the Bentonville Area Chamber of Commerce. That being said, the city’s beauty still draws crowds of tourists and potential new residents from around the country.
Proximity To Nature
Bentonville is located in close proximity to several natural wonders. If you are a bird lover, you can spot flocks of parrots, blue herons, and other feathered creatures from your windows. If you go outside and look to the east, you will see woodlands that the local Audubon chapter has helped to protect. To the west, you will see rolling hills covered in grasslands that provide a home for a variety of animals. It is likely, therefore, that you will see animals of some kind whenever you venture outdoors here.
One of the most impressive natural wonders in and around Bentonville is the Grand Prairie National Wildlife Refuge. This is a beautiful place, with ponds, streams, and a large lake. Due to the refuge’s size, it is often used as a staging area by migratory birds, so it never really gets boring outside.
Scenic Driveway
If you prefer a good drive to a walk, you will love a scenic road that connects Bentonville to the nearby Town Of Tahlequah. This 12-mile byway winds its way across rolling hills and alongside the Arkansas River. It is lined with pine trees and scenic lookout points. There are picnic tables and grills available at several locations, as well as a playground and baseball field. This is also the route that US-169 takes, so it can be accessed from both sides of the river. Needless to say, a scenic drive is a beautiful way to travel.
Walking Trails
Bentonville is full of nature trails. While you are there, you should definitely check out the Milliken Creek Environmental Education Center. This is a living laboratory, where you can learn about the area’s ecology and botany. The center also runs nature walks and butterfly gardens. If you go on the weekends, you can often find native Americans, with their families, walking their dogs, or exploring the woods with their children.
In addition, the Arkansas Forestry Commission has maintained an abandoned railroad line that follows the scenic river. This is where you can find open spaces for walking, running, biking, and cross-country skiing. If winter sports are more your thing, you can visit the North Fork Recreation Area, which is located at the end of the paved road. This area is just a short drive from the center of Bentonville. In the winter, you can often find cross-country skiing trails, as well as ice fishing ponds. In the summer, you can go for walks along the river or up into the hills.
